That is candy wizard Ville!
Ville, originally from Lappeenranta, was already interested in making sweets and developing his own recipes as a child. After working for a few years at a large confectionery manufacturer, Ville’s dream of starting his own candy company prevailed. The company was founded in 2018 and was named Micaro – a name Ville had already thought about as a young boy.
Today, Ville is responsible for the development and production of Kouvolan Herkku products together with his production team – humbly and almost always with a smile.
Kouvolan Herkku Oy was founded in 2025 on the strong foundation created by the Micaro candy factory and the sweet vision of entrepreneur counselor Raino Kukkonen.
This is a story we can proudly tell and continue writing new chapters for, now that Micaro continues its sweet life under the roof of Kouvolan Herkku’s candy factory.
Three warriors – one for all and all for one!
In 2024, some of the traditional machines from the candy factory found a new home, and modern equipment was also acquired, including a marshmallow production line and a packaging machine. In addition, in autumn 2026 a wrapping machine for hard candies was introduced, which will be used to produce, among other things, the only Finnish logo-wrapped candies currently available.
At the same time in 2024, the factory doors opened for the first time to the new CEO Jukka and Sales Manager Janne. Jukka’s story began at the Kaslink and later Fazer factories, where his strong experience in dairy production has also helped solve challenges in the candy factory. Jukka has also assisted the production team in product development and candy manufacturing. For Janne, the food industry was entirely new, but about 25 years of experience in B2B sales has enabled success in the candy business as well.
Although some of the products are old and familiar, the new Kouvolan Herkku brand and upcoming product launches require an innovative approach in marketing as well. We challenge and support our strong partners and listen to the networks we have built over the years – and of course to each other. In many ways we are like the story of the three musketeers, solving things together – one for all and all for one!
This is a story we can proudly tell and continue writing new chapters for, now that Ville’s recipes continue their sweet life within the Kouvolan Herkku candy factory.
